Isabella Hix
Director, Writer, Actress
Isabella Hix (also credited as Hicks) is an award-winning Mexican/Cuban film director and actress who aims to create art that heals the soul.
For four years she traveled back and forth between Reno, NV to Los Angeles, CA to study acting and audition for various productions she worked on for Disney, HBO and Sony. Having made a promise to her parents, she would then enroll in university, graduating Cum Laude with a BFA in Film Production emphasis in directing at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.
During this time, she continued auditioning and acting in various short films while writing and directing her own. One of which garnered her a “Best Director” win (“Lotería!” 2020) and another that took her all the way to Cuba (“Lata” 2020, premiering at NFFTY).
It is without a doubt that for Isabella, acting and directing go hand in hand; her love of acting developed into a love for storytelling, and a deep need to express her own voice as a filmmaker. As a hispanic storyteller, she is very passionate about creating films that showcase her culture and people as she knows them.
She loves fashion, writing poetry, baking, and her dog Mowgli.
